It has consultative status with Unesco and Un Commission of Human Rights Index of Censorship-Founded in 1972, the bi-monthly journal reports on censorship issues from all around the world and publishes articles that add to the essential debates of these issues The International Freedom of Expression Exchange-Operates an Action Alert network that strives to defend freedom of expression and the rights of journalists, writers and media organisations. It publishes a weekly communique that provides regular updates on world wide developments in the freedom of expression community The International Federation of Journalists-Set up in 1926 and founded in its modern form in 1952, the Federation is the World’s largest organisation of journalists is more than 99 countries. It fights for social and professional rights of journalists and is recognised by the United Nations and the international trade union movement as the representative voice of journalists worldwide The International Press Institute-Formed in 1951, it is dedicated to safeguards the freedom of the press, promoting the free exchange of news, and improving the practices of journalism The Committee to Protect Journalist-Founded in 1981 and based in New York City, the committee supports journalists around the world who have been subjected to human rights violation The Commonwealth Press Union-Formerly called the Empire Press Union, it was founded in 1909. Among its activities are advancing the Welfare of the Commonwealth’s press and its employees, defending freedom of press and providing training for all branches of the print media.
