Annexure 3: Subject Languages In BA/BA (Major) course in Gauhati University

Subject: compulsory- English, modern Indian languages (Assamese, Bodo, Bengali, Hindi, Urdu, Nepali, Khasi, Manipur, Punjabi, and Mizo) or additional English * elective- any two of the following subjects of which at least one shall be from group A Group A: A classical or a foreign language (Arabic, French, German, Greek, Hebrew, Italian, Latin, Pali, Persian and Sanskrit): a modern Indian language (Assamese, Bengali Hindi, Khashi, Manipur, Nepali and Urdu): economics, education, history, mathematics, philosophy or education, political science group B: anthropology: geography; home science (women candidate only) statistics.

Note: candidates may offer major course in one the elective subjects provided that the same language cannot be offered as both elective and major subject.
