Bio-informatics: The Importance of the subject Bio-informatics has been highlighted in the section dealing with Biotechnology Courses (p.452). The Government of Karnataka has decided to establish an Institute of Bio-informatics and Applied Biotechnology (IBAB) to be located in the Information Technology Part Ltd (ITPL) at Bangalore. The Institute, in collaboration with the Indian Institute of Information Technology, Bangalore (IIITB) will offer courses in bioinformatics.

Biotechnology Courses: Biotechnology is offered as one of the subject in the BSc course by five University: (1) Kakatiya University (Warangal 506006);(2) University of Madras (Chennai 600005); (3) Osmania University (Hyderabad 500007); (4) Patna University (Patna 800005); and (5) Vinobha Bhave University (Hazaribagh 825301) Both the IIT (Delhi /and IIT (Karagpur) offer integrated (5 1/2 years) M Tech Programme.
