Annexure 3: Indian National Mathematical OlympiadThe National Board of Higher Mathematics (NBHM) introduced the Indian National Mathematical Olympiad (INMO) in 1986 which is now held every year. Regional Olympiads are held as the first round in nearly every State in which students of Classes X-XII are subjected to a test in mathematics. About 30 top scorers from each State participate in INMO held on the first Sunday of February every year at 20 centres in the country. Twenty top scorers are then supported by the NBHM academically and financially provided they offer mathematics at the graduate level. The Andhra Pradesh Association of Mathematics Teachers has been promoting Mathematical Olympiad in the State. It conducts its own Mathematical Olympiad in four languages (English, Hindi, Telugu and Urdu) and at five levels (Postgraduate, Degree, Intermediate First and Second years and Class 10). The 27th Olympiad was organised in November 1999.
