A brief note of IQRA Society for Career Guidance and its Activities

IQRA society for career guidance was established on June 10, 1994 keeping in view the fact that a large number of students neither have access to different sources of career guidance nor do their parents, teachers etc.,are equipped to help them out in sailing successfully in the troubled waters oflife. The Society received tremendous response from the students, awhopping about 45,000 students are its members. Mr. Kareem Irfan, Chemical Engineer, is the Founder and Mr. Mohd. Ameenuddin, Executive Director,Cybermatrix is the Permanent Executive Member and Prof. Mohd. Abbas Ali,Chairman, Board of Studies in Business Management, Osmania University,Mr. Syed Ashfaq Hussain, President, IQRA Society for Career Guidance, are behind the successful running of the Society.

Present Activities

The Society organises face-to-face and postal career guidance sessions, conducts programmes on personality development, publishes literature on career guidance, provides entrepreneurship and placement assistance, organises competitions in elocutions, quiz, essay writing etc. The Society was successful in involving highly eminent persons and renowned institutions in conceptualising and executing the above programmes.The Society makes a deliberate attempt to provide these services to NRIs and their children too. It may be noted that IQRA Society for Career Guidance provided counseling and guidance to over one lakh students, of which about 90%belong to weaker sections of the society. All the above services are provided to students free of charge.

Future Plans

However, considering the huge population of students and their multi-faceted problems the achievements of IQRA, though impressive in their own right, constitute a mere drop in the ocean. The pressing need of the hour is to launch more and more number of programmes and cover a much larger segment of the target group. Towards this, it is proposed to video cassettes/CD roms on different facets of careers, to offer Certificate/Diploma Programmes on Career Guidance through distance mode, to train career counsellors in schools and colleges, to produce TV programmes/Serial on different aspects of careers and to launch IQRA Career dot com.
